‘Addiction and violence oftentimes stem from pain and woundedness.’

Author Kit Cummings not only writes, he also is a teacher and a peace activist. He is the founder of Power of Peace Project (POPP) and has made an impact on the behavior and philosophy of those in schools, prisons, churches and corporations through his series of workshops and onsite residencies.

An attempt to share the infusion of Kit’s concept and results he has accomplished through POPP is beyond the scope of a review of his book. In reading his encounters not only with the initial inmates who signed up for this movement but also with people whose lives have changed for the better, we are left with an impression of a man who truly lives his Christian beliefs and extends those into his work with people the world seems to have forgotten.
A bit of light my be shared by listing the POPP Steps: 40 Days of Freedom: ‘I will seek first to understand my opponent, I will find common ground with my adversary, I will walk a mile in the other man’s shoes before I judge him, I will actively listen and pause before responding, I will deliberately communicate and use my influence for peace, When wrong, I will promptly admit it and make amends, and I will treat my enemies with dignity and respect even when we disagree.’
Read his book and apply these concepts to our own lives and perhaps the current increase in violent behavior will diminish. Grady Harp, August 15

Outstanding Book !!! I Bought 26 So Far For Others !!!

Kit's new book is outstanding and an interesting read depicting his peace journey. I have experienced a significant part of it and can attest to it. I
met Kit in 2012 when we were both speaking at Operation Starting Line for Prison Fellowship during the time I had concerns about some violence in
our prisons. He offered to help and has been coming to our prisons since then to present his programs and has trained over 1000 prisoner who volunteer for the programs. Kit is a gifted motivational speaker, very charismatic and his passion shows. Our prisoners love Kit and he loves them
as the book indicates. He has helped change our culture and reduced our violence. He has impacted our prisons permanently. His work carries over to the prisoners families and, in turn, our communities. I highly recommend Kit and his new book. I am grateful for the difference he has made in our prisoners. He is the best! Real leaders want peace and he gives them the motivation and guidance to active it.

love this book!! read it in 2 days!! #popp

I am in a program that Kit frequently comes to. I love hearing him everytime. No matter how tired I am from working the night before he always keeps my attention and I leave feeling soul fed. This book was absolutely that. He had gifted the book to our judge while he did a speech at graduation and I downloaded it on my phone as he spoke. The next day I informed the program director we needed this in our library since I lost sleep the night before because I couldn't put it down. Since I have heard him speak quite a few times it was really neat reading about the stories that he had shared with us as they happened but also getting a deeper view into it. I absolutely love Kit and his message and his purpose. Talk about a beautiful soul with good karma. Thank you for sharing all these courageous people and their stories. Until next time.. ♡ X-ine
