I initially sat down to refine my lecture notes for my Advanced Placement United States Government and Politics class, but began to write a manuscript that would reflect my style of teaching instead. All of my students tell me they "hear" my voice when reading the book. This pleases me to no end. I am also very thankful that HOGRWDWTS4 is rapidly being accepted as an excellent handbook for freshman political science or AP Gov. students.

I can safely state that this insightful book is unbiased, in that it is neither conservative nor liberal,but rather factual and informative. This book is not about politics its about Government and believe it or not there is a difference. This book points out the factual information about our Government while explaining how the rhetoric on both sides of the isle is not only incorrect but toxic to our country. I cannot stress enough how useful this book was and still is. Within the 3 years that I have been in college I have referenced information about our government from this book (1st edition) numerous times and exposed the lies that many of the American Population have been led to believe. While my knowledge on the book is based on the first edition, the 4th edition is filled with the most up to date info.
I recommend this book to any adult who wishes to vote with intelligence, as well as any student taking a college level class in government. It is also designed to be the perfect study guide for Ap Gov and learning its contents will nearly guarantee a 5 on the Ap Gov exam. Enjoy and be informed.

A great read, as well as a must-read for anyone who is a citizen of the US. Rubin offers a clear, non-partisan explanation of the US government with real-world examples. In a time where political parties and the mainstream media spin offer us shamelessly biased information, this book takes us back to the facts and reminds us that we're all on the same side.
