Lee is a fellow pastor and good friend. That being said

Full disclosure: Lee is a fellow pastor and good friend. That being said, reading his story was jolting and inspiring, all at the same time. Not only did it hit home with me because of my friendship with Lee, but because of my own experiences in ministering to others who have endured trauma. The minister oftentimes must simply admit - to himself and to the suffering one - that he or she just doesn't have any words that can 'fix' them. But there is One who does, and Lee's book is perhaps the most powerful story I have ever read of how God can surely 'fix' anyone, no matter their burdens.
Lee's willingness to tell his difficult story should be an inspiration to those who have suffered similarly. However, this story also can - and surely will - be a conduit through which the Holy Spirit will minister to many who read it. It is hard enough for the typical person to realize their need for a relationship with Jesus Christ; often they have to hit 'rock bottom' before that possibility will even be considered. Lee was born at rock bottom. He didn't even know that deliverance was available, until the Lord, in His sovereign will and inexpressible grace, gently drew Lee unto Himself.
I highly recommend that all in ministry read this book - if I could force you to, I would. There is hope, and Lee's story is proof. As wrenching as it is, there is beauty at the end. And my brother in Christ, my dear friend, though he still struggles with some residual issues, has taken the grace that God is applying to his life, and is channeling it out through his own ministry. The folks at Cornerstone Church, where he pastors, should count themselves supremely blessed to have such a man shepherding them.

A provocative book that reveals the author's very unusual and troubling childhood relationship with those close to him and how he managed to overcome it by faith in Christ. it is a miracle to see him today as a successful minister of the gospel with a loving family.

I finished the book in one sitting! It was very well written.
I was impressed with how the Lord enabled Lee to clearly express the myriad complexities borne from such trauma. I wept with him, and then rejoiced with him as I journeyed to the end of the book. His honesty is refreshing and the applications of what it takes, even now, to live in victory were so good. I thank the Lord that He has turned this man's deep pain into something He can use to embrace, through him, other wounded “children” in this unsafe world. It’s horrifying today to see such blatant disregard for those within the womb, so it’s a small wonder there is also disregard for those outside of the womb. Because of it, there are countless people who are walking through life terribly maimed and feeling alone. The ministry God has given to Pastor Cross is desperately needed. May He continue to bless it abundantly. I pray that Lee's book will find its way into the hands of despairing people, giving them hope as it points them to the only One who can turn their tears into joy.
