The Life Beyond Death, by William Walker Atkinson

This is one of the greatest books on the subject ever written. The clarity of the ideas, and the fact that they are so believable and make so much sense, make the reader question, Who really was this William Walker Atkinson? Through over 10 aliases he wrote over 100 books, all so deep and so incredibly full of the wisdom of the ages, that it really rises many eyebrows as to his real "mission" in this life. The book gives us one of the most detailed and appealing descriptions of what could happen after we "die" to this physical life, and the transformations that follow that moment that we fear so much (and we really shouldn't!). A book of enlightenment, reflection and peace.

About the Author
Born in Maryland in 1862, he began working life at 15 in his parent’s grocery store. He married at age 27, and became an attorney in Pennsylvania. While he gained material success as a lawyer, the stress and over-strain brought him to a complete physical and mental breakdown that ended in a financial disaster. He looked for healing and in the late 1880’s he found the principles of New Thought, and in applying them he restored his health, mental vigor and material prosperity. Atkinson then began to write articles on the truths he felt he had discovered. His “A Mental Science Catechism,” appeared in Charles Fillmore's ‘Modern Thought’ in 1889. By the early 1890’s Atkinson moved to Chicago, then a major centre for New Thought, and became an active promoter of the movement as an editor and author. In 1900 he wrote his first book, Thought-Force in Business and Everyday Life, a series of lessons in personal magnetism, psychic influence, thought-force, concentration, will-power, and practical mental science. Soon after he met Sydney Flower, a well-known New Thought publisher and businessman, and in December 1901 he became editor of Flower's popular New Thought magazine (until 1905), and a very prolific writer of dozens of well appreciated articles in the magazine; and later on, he was a regular contributor to Elizabeth Towne’s Magazine, Nautilus. Throughout his subsequent career, Atkinson wrote and published over 100 different books, some under his own name and many under pseudonyms such as Yogi Ramacharaka, Theron Q. Dumont, Theodore Sheldon, Magus Incognito, Edward Walker, Three Initiates and Swami Bhakta Vishita. Among the first to develop the concept of Law of Attraction, Atkinson is considered, together with Orison Swett Marden and Wallace Wattles, the masters of self-development and positive thinking, and the real promoters of New Thought, a movement that came very much to life again with the Millennium He died November 22, 1932 in Los Angeles, California at the age of 69, after 50 years of successful career in business, writing, occultism, and the law, and a life surrounded by mysteries, including his own death.

One of the most profound philosophical works I've ever read.
By A Customer
This wonderfully profound gem of a philosophical work is possibly the most detailed and intuitively appealing explanation of what may happen after death I have ever read. This book explains the phenomena of ghosts and gives a very reasonable and believable description of the afterlife. The author, Yogi Ramacharaha, was one of the great philosophical thinkers of the early 20th century. He and Swami Vivakananda both came to America to teach yoga philosophy and both wrote books on a wide range of topics. It is amazing that two such remarkable minds did their work at around the same historical time. Another great book by Yogi Ramacharaha is "Gnani Yoga" which is also the title of a book by Swami Vivakananda. These two works are also quite great although I think Ramacharaha's work is a far more profound piece of writing. In conclusion, this book deserves a better review than I am giving it, but if you are looking for a truly outstanding piece of thinking about that "undiscovered country from whose bourne no traveller returns" than please read this book. I can truly say that this book has shaped my thinking very much on this topic, and I am very glad both that Amazon is offering this hard to get masterpiece, and that I have a chance to write a few words about it. This book blew my mind!
By Godspark
I had a taste of this subject when I read "An Autobiography of a Yogi" and was pretty much amazed then (as well as a bit skeptical) - however, this book takes you on a journey of heaven that if you are not familiar with this particular Oriental thought, will stun and amaze you. Absolutely fascinating!

New views of the Astral Plane
By Thorn
This is a most fascinating reprint of material first published almost 100 years ago. It gives clear and detailed information of the Astral Plane, with greater insight into this realm of consciousness and experiences of the soul after death. It covers information and teachings now available (some for the first time) with great clarity and as such, I feel it is superior to many later books on this subject. I certainly commend it to anybody interested in the progression of personal onsciousness after death, or whose inclinations or spiritual path inclines them to explore the Astral Plane and its inhabitants.
